Vintage French Bronze Decorative Plate: Girl Chasing Goose, Incolay Ivory Relief

Bring a touch of storybook charm to your home with this vintage French bronze decorative plate, titled “Uncertain Beginning” from the Life’s Interludes Collection by artist James W. Roberts. This sculpted plate is an original vintage plate from 1979, plate number 02944, and has all the character and patina you would expect from a well cared for collectible.

Cast in a warm French olive bronze alloy, this bronze plate has a beautiful depth and weight that feels solid in your hands. The central scene is inlaid by hand with creamy Incolay ivory, creating a soft contrast against the darker metal. The design shows a Dutch girl chasing a goose, a playful, slightly whimsical moment that adds personality to any room.

At 10 inches in diameter, this decorative plate is substantial enough to stand out on your wall or in a display cabinet without overpowering your space. The back is fitted for use as a wall hanging, so you can easily add it to your gallery wall, hallway, or above a sideboard. It also looks lovely on a plate stand as a focal point on a shelf or mantle.

Each detail on this sculpted plate has been carefully modeled, from the girl’s clothing to the feathers of the goose. The combination of hand inlay work and bronze casting gives this piece a crafted, one of a kind feel that many modern reproductions do not have. If you appreciate vintage craftsmanship and tactile, well made objects, this piece will appeal to you.

This decorative plate makes a thoughtful collector gift for anyone who loves European art, vintage décor, or narrative scenes. It works well as a gift for her or a gift for him, and is especially meaningful as an anniversary gift. Bronze is traditionally associated with the 8th wedding anniversary, so this is a fitting and personal gift for anniversary celebrations, particularly if you are marking a bronze anniversary.

Because it is both a vintage art object and a functional wall hanging, it fits many occasions. You can give it as a collectible gift to a plate collector, art lover, or someone who enjoys unique wall art. The timeless subject and warm bronze tones blend easily with farmhouse, cottage, traditional, or eclectic décor.

This vintage bronze plate will ship carefully packed to protect the sculpted relief and hand inlaid surface so it arrives ready to display or give. Whether you are treating yourself, searching for a special collector gift, or looking for a distinctive gift for anniversary that feels personal and meaningful, this vintage French bronze decorative plate is a charming choice that will be enjoyed for years to come, by both new and experienced collectors alike.
